Randy L. Bias — CEO, Founder, and Cloud Strategist
Randy is the expert cloud vendors & providers like VMware, EngineYard, Internap, and GoGrid consult when they need help. His boutique cloud strategy consulting firm, Cloudscaling, advises Fortune 500 companies like Kaiser Permanente with their internal cloud initiatives. He has driven innovations in infrastructure, IT, Operations, and 24×7 service delivery since 1990. He was the technical visionary on the executive team of GoGrid & ServePath, a major cloud computing provider. Prior to GoGrid, he built the world’s first multi-cloud, multi-platform cloud management framework at CloudScale Networks, Inc.
Randy is recognized as one of the top cloud bloggers and twitterers. The Cloudscaling blog has tens of thousands of page views every month.
In addition to his contributions as a blogger, Randy’s open licensing of the GoGrid API inspired many others to open license their IaaS cloud APIs including Sun Microsystems, Rackspace Cloud, and VMware.

Adam Waters — COO
Adam Waters comes to Cloudscaling with an extensive background in IP networking, routing, datacenter and large scale network operations. He is responsible of all aspects of business operations.
Adam served as VP of Engineering for iAsiaWorks (NASDAQ: IAWK) where he oversaw network design and deployment in seven countries across Asia Pacific simultaneously. Additionally, Adam served on the Technical Advisory Committee to the CalREN2 Internet2 research network, as Chief Network Engineer for GeoNet Communications (acquired by Level3), as CEO of Vedacore, an ICANN accredited registrar (acquired by Enom), in network operations for InterNex Information Systems (acquired by XO Communications), and as a technical consultant for Newbridge Capital, iVillage, the San Francisco Chronicle, and others.
Adam most recently served as COO of Support Intelligence, performing high security consulting for the United States Department of The Treasury, and Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) projects for the Department of Homeland Security.
Adam currently sits on the Board of Advisors for Affective Interfaces. He holds a BA with honors in intellectual history from UC Santa Cruz, and an MBA from UC Davis Graduate School of Management.
Killian Murphy — Cloud Strategist
Killian has 16 years technology industry experience within startups and Fortune 100 IT organizations in roles encompassing engineering, management and strategy. As a Director in IT at Credit Suisse in New York for over 5 years, he was responsible for developing, integrating and deploying their internal cloud with over 20,000 virtual servers. The technology his team developed became the foundation of a successful Boston-based startup, DynamicOps. Following the success of this large scale deployment Killian managed cloud strategy in the CTO office until his departure in June 2009.
During his work delivering an internal cloud at Credit Suisse, Killian pioneered important areas of internal cloud computing environments, including:
- Extensive end-to-end automation
- Business requirements for security, billing and organizational or regulatory infrastructure silos
- A self-service portal with fine-grained entitlements
Richard Keating — Program Director (PMP / CSM)
Richard’s career spans 15 years in systems engineering, IT and Operations Management with Connect Inc, Adobe, and Microsoft. He managed the Engineering Services team for Adobe product development working with global image deployment in 8 operating systems environments. At Microsoft, he designed and built data centers supporting the Windows Live™ and Hotmail development teams and was an active participant in many of Microsoft’s early cloud computing initiatives.
His passion for cloud strategies is ignited by the possibilities for mobile applications in the corporate environment. Richard believes that mobile apps, when cloud-enabled, will have a huge impact on commercial and enterprise computing.
Richard holds a B.S. in Business Management from San Jose State University and is currently working toward his MBA. He is both PMP (Project Management Professional) and CSM (Certified Scrum Master) certified.
Pat Sharp — National Account Manager
Pat brings her experience as a sale manager and quota busting sales professional to her role as Cloudscaling’s National Account Manager. Her business experiences cross continents, industries, and functions. She has worked in start-ups (The Santa Cruz Operation, Accolo, Cognate Inc.), non-profits (The Human Capital Institute, Dismas, Inc.), and the Fortune 500 (Motorola, Tandy Corporation, Deloitte) Her industry knowledge spans technology, software, consumer products, advertising, and other services, with account management of global clients including: IBM, Vanderbilt University, Radio Shack, TechData, and Motorola.
She is certified in Total Quality Management (TQM) and received her MBA in Global Strategic Management from Dominican University of California.
For fun, she writes songs and plays with her equine friends on her farm in Middle Tennessee.
