Michael Grant

CEO

Michael Grant

Michael Grant brings over twenty five years of technology industry executive, marketing, and business management experience to Cloudscaling. In 2003, Michael helped found Redmojo, a heterogeneous virtualization management company where he held the position of CEO. Redmojo was later acquired by Novell, Inc. as a key component of its IT systems management business unit. Prior to Redmojo, Michael was the founding CEO of Ejasent, an adaptive computing infrastructure service provider, where he raised over $26m in venture capital financing, hired and led the executive team, and drove product, marketing, and business strategy from company formation through early customer sales and acquisition. Ejasent was subsequently acquired by the Veritas Corporation as a part of its utility computing strategy.

Prior to Ejasent, Michael was Vice President of Applications Marketing at Documentum Inc., where he was responsible for launching the company's entry into the packaged application business. Michael joined Documentum as part its acquisition of Relevance Technologies (1998), where he was the Vice President of Marketing. At Relevance, Michael's responsibilities included product management, marketing, and business strategy for the company's intranet content management products. Before joining Relevance, Michael held various senior marketing, product management, and business development positions for companies including Sun Microsystems, Macromedia, and Apple Computer. Michael holds a B.A. in Business & Economics from the University of California.


Randy Bias

Randy L. Bias

Randy's provocative views on the profound disruption caused by cloud computing have made him one of the most influential voices in the industry. He uses this influence to advocate an open and honest debate about which technologies will win in driving cloud to large-scale adoption. He has inspired organizations and individuals to embrace the disruption of cloud computing to transform business processes and position themselves to succeed in a new world where computing resources are ubiquitous, inexpensive, instantly scalable, and highly available.

Since 1990, Randy has driven innovations in infrastructure, IT, operations, and 24×7 service delivery. He was the technical visionary at GoGrid and built the world’s first multi-cloud, multi-platform cloud management framework at CloudScale Networks. He led the open-licensing of GoGrid's API, which inspired Sun Microsystems, Rackspace Cloud, VMware and others to open-license their cloud APIs.

Randy's voice can be heard through the Cloudscaling blog, which has tens of thousands of page views monthly. Randy is recognized by The Next Web as one of the 25 Most Influential People Tweeting About Cloud. He is frequently interviewed in the trade and business media on cloud computing, and he speaks at dozens of industry events annually.

Adam Waters

Co-Founder and COO

Adam Waters

Adam Waters offers an extensive background in IP networking, routing, datacenter and large scale network operations. He is responsible of all aspects of business operations.

Adam served as vice president of engineering for iAsiaWorks (NASDAQ: IAWK) where he oversaw network design and deployment in seven countries across Asia Pacific simultaneously. Additionally, Adam served on the Technical Advisory Committee to the CalREN2 Internet2 research network, as Chief Network Engineer for GeoNet Communications (acquired by Level3), as CEO of Vedacore, an ICANN accredited registrar (acquired by Enom), in network operations for InterNex Information Systems (acquired by XO Communications), and as a technical consultant for Newbridge Capital, iVillage, the San Francisco Chronicle, and others. Adam most recently served as COO of Support Intelligence, performing high security consulting for the United States Department of The Treasury, and Advanced Research Projects Agency projects for the Department of Homeland Security.

Adam currently sits on the Board of Advisors for Affective Interfaces. He holds a BA with honors in intellectual history from UC Santa Cruz, and an MBA from UC Davis Graduate School of Management.

Paul Guth

Vice President, Technical Operations

Paul Guth

Paul is responsible for ensuring that Cloudscaling projects meet predefined benchmarks for performance, security and availability. His passion for the art and science of reliable systems spans the past 15 years, during which time he has built and operated some of the world’s largest online systems.

During his five years as eBay’s Director of Site Operations, he was responsible for the availability and performance of eBay's Marketplaces properties, including ebay.com. Paul combined ITIL concepts and processes with practical implementation to help eBay deliver record-breaking availability over 99.99%. Paul also has held leadership positions at TiVo, Wired Digital, and Lycos, among others.

Paul attended the University of California at Berkeley where he studied Biochemistry.


Troy Angrignon

Vice President, Sales and Marketing

Troy Angrignon

Troy Angrignon is a sales and marketing executive with sixteen years experience in the IT arena, spanning network consulting services, enterprise software, software as a service, web 2.0 software, and cloud computing. As VP Sales & Marketing, Troy is responsible for working with the team to ensure that Cloudscaling is building market focused solutions that serve our client's business needs.

Prior to Cloudscaling, Troy worked as an independent consultant with two very well-known and respected cloud brand names: RightScale and Appirio. He helped RightScale build out their ISV Partner program with large ISVs such as IBM, Oracle, Novell, Sun, Red Hat, Zend, and others. For Appirio, he provided cloud strategy and advice to their Fortune 500 clients and also updated and released the third version of his cloud computing ecosystem map. His writings, partner deals and ecosystem map have garnered press in Sandhill, eWeek, Information Week, Info World, VentureBeat, ReadWriteWeb, ChangeThis.com, Cutter IT Journal, Deal Architect, and many other industry sites.

Troy has served as co-chair of the Under the Radar: Clarity in the Cloud 2009 conference, President of a multi-million dollar development services startup in the web 2.0 space, Emerging Technology Strategist for Business Objects, and Founder/CEO of a computer consulting services firm.

Troy is passionate about building businesses that have a positive impact on the world and that address humanity's largest challenges. Aside from his work, he is a passionate outdoor athlete and adventurer who is interested in crossfit, road-biking, trail-running, nutrition, hiking, and yoga.


Francesco Paola

Francesco Paola

Francesco is an entrepreneur who brings more than 20 years of experience in e-commerce, software development and professional services. He has a proven track record of success building and launching venture-backed businesses from founding through IPO or acquisition in rapidly growing industry sectors.

Francesco has held leadership positions at WINS Global Services (a leading provider of business process outsourcing services), Cambridge Technology Partners, Scient, JPMorgan Chase, Trinity Partners, WNS Global Services and IronRidge. He received his MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley, and his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
