I used what I learned setting up Bedouin for my current company and a private cloud is cost effectivce even for small companies if you know what you are doing. It's a combination of vmware virtual infrastructure, SAN storage and Platform ISF cloud management software.
Just because most people think it can't be done does not mean it cant be, I know it works because I have done it and more than once.
